I was surprised to not find any comprehensive guides to replacing the window regulator on this car so I decided to make one. You'll need a 7mm and 10mm socket, trim pry tool and some packing or duct tape and of course the window regulator for this job. The part number for the front driver regulator is: #22938326

There are two covers that need removed to expose the door card screws, three screws in total. Two are inside the door handle:

And one is inside the door lever:

Use your fingernail or something skinny to pop them out and remove the three screws with a 7mm socket.

Next the door card needs removed. The bottom of the door card will pop out, be careful not to break the plastic pop rivets and then once free, it will lift upward and off. The top will not pull away from the door, so pry gently and start from the bottom and work up both sides until the card will swing inward a little bit freely. Now lift up and it will come off:

At this point the door is held on by the door lever cable and the door button harness. The door lever has a clip that needs lifted then pulled back. It will then unhook much like bike brake handle cables. Make sure to disconnect the other harness and set the door card aside. Failure to disconnect this harness can result in accidentally activating the express window button which can cause the internals to start moving continuously and cause personal injury!

Now you need to remove the two screws holding the metal bracket onto the door and set aside:

Now you need to remove the water deflector, use your pry tool to scrape the sealant off the door without ruining the sealant since we will be sticking this back onto the door.

Using a 7mm socket again, remove the one bolt above the speaker assembly and pull outward, the speaker and housing will come out. Disconnect the wires and set the speaker aside to make more room. This isn't necessary but it helps and you won't be as likely to damage the speaker. Disconnect the harness from the regulator

Find the bottom of the glass, it rests on two metal seats. If the regulator is broken, you will probably be able to gently lift the window up by the bottom of the glass:

where you can access them through the service holes.

Grab your tape and have it handy. Continue to lift up on the glass until you can access the left bolt through the service hole, which should be all the way up. Now tape the glass to the top of the door:

Using a 10mm socket, loosen the clamp holding onto the glass on each side. The clamp will then come off the glass, it falls so try to hang on to it.

The glass is officially removed from the regulator guides. Next we need to disconnect the guide rails from the car. Each guide rail has two 10mm bolts which need remove from the bottoms of each guide. The regulator also has a bolt which needs to be removed:

There is a bolt on top of each guide, only loosen a little bit as they do not come off all the way:

Now lift each guide rail up and back out of the slot:

Once both guide rails are resting loosely inside the door cavity, slide everything to the right and pull the left side out first, then remove the rest of the way:

The new regulator is ready to go in, insert in reverse order and secure to the door, tighten down the bolts and plug the harness back into the regulator:

Now hold the glass window and remove the tape. Slowly slide the window down and make sure it seats in the metal cradles:

Make sure there is nothing obstructing the glass window including any wires etc. Turn the car on, grab the door card and plug in only the window switch harness:

Make sure your hands and all tools and parts are clear and not obstructing the window and see if the window will go up a little. If it does, send the window all the way up and you should be able to access the glass window cradle/clamps from the service holes. Disconnect and set the door card aside and tighten both clamps with a 10mm socket:

Lastly, you just need to put the door together in reverse order. When you put the water deflector back on, make sure the holes line up for the metal bracket to screw in.

You're done!

Thank you so much for this. My regulator recently broke and I couldn't find any resources on how to fix it. You saved me a lot of money. I joined the forum just to see your pictures. Thanks again!
